Where can teachers in Louisiana locate distance learning teacher certification courses and or programs? 

There is not a central location for teachers to access this information. In Louisiana, teachers struggle to locate traditional and alternative certification programs that offer courses and professional development opportunities delivered via distance learning. 

The Louisiana Resource Center for Educators is an alternative certification program that allows some remotely located participants to use video conferencing to complete the program.  

Are there plans for the LaDLA to get involved? 

Yes. The LaDLA is committed to creating a database to help teachers locate the resources to become certified and/or highly qualified via distance learning. In order to accomplish this goal, the LaDLA plans to create a committee to:

 o         Identify all teacher certification programs in Louisiana (traditional and alternative) 

o         Create an interactive database to help teachers identify programs, courses and professional development opportunities 

o         Encourage expansion of distance learning teacher certification courses and professional development opportunities
